My brother called me after he visited Fry’s in Seattle. He said that Lorex was top of the line for home security cameras per a sales persone he spoke to at Fry’s. This was a fantastic price from Amazon and the shipping was free. My son installed it over the course of a week (planning where to place the cameras, etc.) and this system is great. The clarity is amazing both day and night. It’s easy to operate for playback and we haven’t had any problems at all. Hopefully if anyone comes on our property again, we can get a good pic to give to the police!

This unit works but has two downsides that would make me not buy it again:
When the fan comes on it sounds like a blender. I called Lorex and they don’t have a solution. They say I can replace the fan with a quieter model at my expense. They also said that they were working on a firmware upgrade to lower the speed of the fan to descrease the racket- but I’ve checked their site twice in 2 months and no such offering.
Also, I’m not a camera expert, but the image is fuzzy on the recording. I doubt a face could be recognized at more than 20 feet even though the range is claimed to be much more. Lorex said “you must have forgotten to remove the protective film covering on the camera lenses” but my cameras were shipped in baggies that had no such film covering on the lenses.
